Coming back to NAB

It’s that time of year … time to go down to Las Vegas for NAB. As someone who’s had a now 40-year career as a professional portrait still photographer, it does seem a bit odd to be more involved publicly with video post than with stills. But really, making the prints pretty was always the enjoyable part of my portrait tasks, and well … that’s what I enjoy about video post also, making it pretty.

As I’m very active within the Adobe “post” community, it’s also a great chance to meet up with my peers. Some I’ve not met in person before, and many that I have now met in realy life between previous NAB’s and also Adobe MAX. Being officially an Adobe Community Professional … an ACP … has meant a growing cadre of fascinating peers are “around me” daily in forums and private conversations … people from all around the world, with all sorts of working lives, interests, outlooks … it’s very rewarding to be among them.

And I love to troubleshoot … to re-think processes that “everyone” does … to re-imagine how to best do something. Can I get there in fewer, or simpler, steps?

Which is where much of my work gets to … and that’s shown in the posts I’ve done and will be adding on using the Lumetri panel for color correction in Premiere Pro CC 2017, especially while working with the Tangent Ripple and Elements panels. Yes, there are ways to get there faster and with fewer steps, and even … with fewer visually evaluative decisions to make.

I’ve got quite a number of ideas that will be posted over the next few months. Dang, but this is fun!
